I finally found a place that sells Agas! Every English country home has to have one, it’s all part of living the country life. Come home to a wet spaniel on the rug, wagging its tail in front of a warm Aga. Take off the wellies and sit down beside the warm Aga to read cookery books and drink milky tea. Bliss.
Well, we have cats - so that won’t work.
We have a nice stove now: a dual-fuel GE Profile with a convection oven and gas hob and warming drawer and we got it cheap from Home Depot and we like it. Brits love dual fuel. But I’ve always wanted an Aga. My sister Chris, in Braunton, North Devon, wants the Aga that runs on drip feed fuel oil. It heats the water for the house and stays on all the time, it works throughout a power outage, and provides the quintessential country hearth for baking. Very romantic and yet good for catastrophic living…
But here’s the one I want, though in red, available from Eurostoves, and so damned expensive you have call for the price.
The Aga Legacy features 3 electric ovens: 7-mode multifunction oven with convection, a fully programmable convection oven, a state of the art ceramic broiler. It also features 5 powerful gas burners, including powerful dual-flame wok burner, and is available in 4 different colors. This model includes 3 electric ovens, including a ceramic broiler, 5 gas burners, and independent controls.
