Building Finisterre

Via Popagadget, this amazing kitchen appliance of the future called the Vege is a runner up for the Electrolux Design Lab 2006 award, Teeravit Hanharutaivan is the student designer. (I think the voting is still open and this one gets my vote so if you like it vote now.) It’s a Hydro grower for the home and hopefully one day something like it will be in my kitchen. Probably a Target version though.  It grows up to forty plants in a mineral solution and in a disease free environment. Might be a bit tight for tomato plants but salads and herbs, yes. So maybe one day we will eat breakfast in the kitchen while basking in the glow of the Vege. And in January, at 40 below in Minnesota, we could can eat a good (and bio security safe) green salad right from the kitchen.

(I tried growing salad under regular grow lights with little success.)
