Home Elevator

Some house blogs are documents on what’s happening right now, but I’m using this blog in the pre-design phase both as wish list and must do list. There are some things I’ll post here which may never be afforded but needed, or vice versa. One thing we don’t ever want to have to buy but have a real need to plan for is a home elevator. I think a lot more people will be doing this in future instead of moving on to a one level community living situation.
The vague plan at the moment is to incorporate a space on all floors which can function as a closet but be changed to an elevator if needed. A good reason to do it this way is that you can get a tax rebate for home improvements based on disability, so why not wait to see if it’s needed.
And you can source re-cyled elevators too, which seems a lot greener and cheaper way to go http://www.silvercross-elevators.com/home-elevators.html
I’m interested in hearing from anyone who has had good experiences with putting in a home elevator, not sales hype, just good experiences. In the mean time, here’s a cool elevator. My biggest fear is that one of the cats would get stuck under the cab.
